We recently switched him to his own room in preparation for the baby. Once the baby comes, Emma gets the boot from the crib and moves in with Eliza, giving Dane the boot into his own room. It was kind of a sad day when Dane and Eliza were no longer going to sleep at the same time and in the same bed. They have been sharing a queen size bed for the last two years. Change is inevitable.
The only thing that makes it easier is that Dane and Eliza really don't mind the new arrangement. Eliza gets to go to bed earlier and Dane loves feeling like a big kid. I am not sure they even once were sad about it. Next up is moving Emma into the big bed with Eliza. She has slept in the big bed once and it went fine. She and Eliza were asleep within 5 minutes. The only problem was in the morning. The older kids know not to come out of their rooms until their clock turns yellow but that concept is a little lost on Emma. I suppose she will learn just like Dane and Eliza did.
Dane also has started riding a two wheeler with pedals…and no training wheels. The last 2 years he has been racing around the neighborhood and the house on his strider bike. Matt brought out the pedals today and the kid picked it up in about 15 minutes. No exaggeration. He struggles in knowing which way the pedals turn and sometimes accidentally slams on the brakes. A little frustrating to him a little funny to us. It's pretty cool to watch your kiddo learn to ride a bike. It's like one of those toddler passageways into kid hood or something. (this is where I cry…or put in a plug for Strider bikes. That bike has made learning to ride a real bike painless!) That Dane, what a cool kid!
Here is to growing up!
Because Dane graduated from his strider bike Eliza gets the red strider and Emma will get the green strider. For whatever reason Eliza goes SO much faster on the red bike. It won't be long and she will be ready for a bike with pedals!
