Months before Matt returned home we had started to plan a "we are all together again" vacation. Because of the sudden change of assignment to California Matt went back to work almost the very next day he arrived home. So, having a vacation in the near future made the quick return to work not seem so bad.
We left Burke in the late afternoon expecting to stop for dinner along the way. Usually it is about 3 hour drive to Williamsburg, however, we should have known that Highway 95 would have been crowded with all the weekend travelers going to DC and the beaches. The kids started to get a little restless with the slow traffic flow so I handed Dane the iPad to hopefully entertain them through the traffic. Bad idea! About an hour later he was car sick and complaining of his stomach and head hurting. We found an exit with a restaurant hoping to make him, feel better. As we were pulling into the parking lot....BARF everywhere. It kind of seemed like Dane just got the throw-up everywhere. All over himself, the car seats, the blankets, the floor. As luck would have it, it began POURING rain just as we pulled into our parking spot. What do you do with a kid covered in puke in the middle of a rain storm? Well, Dane took a shower in the parking lot. By the time we got him stripped down to his underwear the puddles in the parking lot were a good 5 inches deep. I found the baby soap, sudsed him up, and let the rain rinse him off. He thought it was pretty great! The next ten minutes were spent cleaning out our BRAND NEW van. I suppose someone had to barf in it sometime. We then ate and were back on the road. What a great way to start the trip. Luckily things only got better!
We stayed at the Naval Weapons Station in Williambsurg. From the hotel it was just a 10-15 minute drive to Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, and York Beach. We also were able to coordinate this vacation with some of our friends who (very conveniently) were staying in a great time share nearby. We met up with them at each of the Parks and also at the beach! It definitely made the vacation even more fun!
The last two days we spent at Great Wolf Resort. It is a hotel with a water park located in the hotel. The kids loved the water slides, kiddie area, and wave pool. Matt and I loved that naps were easy, no car seats, and a great dinner buffet where kids eat free! It was a great way to end the vacation!
The kids loved the water park. Probably their favorite thing through out the week. Dane went on some of the big kid rides with Matt. I was impressed that he would actually go. They were big slides.
This raft ride was probably Eliza's favorite. Big smiles the whole time!

What great vacation photos!
Did not know that Dane baptized your new car so well. Poor little boy. Matt was a "car sick" person so I can sympathize...having the rain shower was a perfect solution. SWEET!
